Being mobile is not a luxury
Grants and subsidies for your WEIGL stairlift

Generally speaking, the purchase of a stairlift has to be financed by "the private individual". However, there are some departments in Länder and federal government that provide support for purchasing a stairlift.

Barrier-free living with a WEIGL stairlift means independence for quality of life. Especially for elderly people or people with physical limitations, a stairlift is the prerequisite for being able to stay in your own home. This advantage of remaining independent is now supported by many Länder and also health care insurance companies. Below we provide information on how and which financial grants and subsidies are available regionally and nationwide.

Which subsidies are available and what do I have to take into consideration?

The availability of grants and subsidies depends very much on local legislation.

The amount of the subsidies and the conditions are therefore different from one place to the next. The contact points for applying for a grant may also differ from one province to another. However, in many cases it is worthwhile applying for financial support, as this will save you money when you buy your stairlift. Our customer adviser will be happy to inform you about the guidelines that apply in your province.

Health care cost allowance

The health care cost allowance is financial assistance for building renovation measures for barrier-free living. You can apply for these allowances from your private health care insurance and from your national health insurance organisation. Before applying, you need to find out which one of the five classifications of care applies to you.

The amount of the allowance depends on the level of care and can be up to EUR 4,000. Up to 4 residents can "pool" their grants, a total grant of EUR 16,000 is then possible.

The conditions for receiving or applying for a care allowance from a care insurance company are the existence of a care degree. If there is not yet a classification for a care benefit, an application for the care benefit must first be submitted to the insurance company.

Tax deductibility

Making the installation of the stairlift tax deductible

In principle, you can submit the costs for the purchase of a stairlift under the item "extraordinary burden" with your annual tax return. An "extraordinary burden", among other things, includes all expenses for medicines, travel - and medical expenses that exceed a reasonable amount.

The tax savings depend individually on your personal income and family circumstances. Tax deductibility is also possible if a health care insurance allowance has been approved.
